SUBJECT: TROPICAL DEPRESSION 18W
Storm Preparations Suggested: The National Weather Service, as of 1:00 p.m. Guam time, reported that Tropical Depression 18W is moving toward the southern Marianas and a tropical storm watch remains in effect for Guam and Rota. At 1:00pm, the center of Tropical Depression 18W was located near latitude 10.6 degrees north and longitude 151.5 degrees east, moving northwest at an average speed of 15 mph with maximum sustained winds of 35 miles per hour. Tropical Depression 18W has maintained its current intensity during the past 12 hours and is still expected to intensify slightly during the next 12 to 24 hours.
Members are encouraged to prepare for typhoon conditions. Local updates will be provided as the conditions may vary with the progress of the storm. Updates from the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Tiyan, Guam are available on the website at www.weather.gov/guam or through the various media outlets. GHRA will continue to provide updated information as it becomes available.
