The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) along with the Chalan Pago-Ordot Mayor’s office is pleased to announce the unveiling ceremony for the “We Are Chalan Pago-Ordot” village mural will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at 10 a.m.
The unveiling will take place on Route 10, Vietnam Veterans Highway, across the street from Song Market. The ceremony marks the 11th mural completed under the “We Are Guam” Village Mural Project.
Other artwork has been unveiled at Mangilao, Barrigada, Yigo, Inarajan, Tamuning-Tumon-Harmon, Hagåtña, Agat, Piti, Mongmong-Toto-Maite, and Asan.
“I am very proud to present this mural to the people of Guam,” said Chalan Pago-Ordot Mayor Jessy C.Gogue. “This mural depicts what our community is truly about. The theme and tone of this mural took a lot of time and preparation. We wanted to incorporate themes unique to our village, including the peskadot, baseball, the Pago tree, and Otdot, which means ‘ant’ in our native tongue.”
“This mural has been a great addition to the village mural project,” said GVB Deputy General Manager Ernie A. Galito. “The artists Greg Sablan and Tina Flores are art teachers from JFK and G.W High School, respectively. Their collaborative work has produced something of significance, beauty, and history.”
All paints and supplies have been generously donated by Benson Hardware and the Mikel I.V. Tan Foundation.
Organizations and individuals are encouraged to contact their mayor to volunteer for their village mural project.
