Kwajalein

One of two major islands in the Marshall Islands, which number more than 1,200 in all, the splash of land that is Kajalein forms a graceful shape resembling a boomerang or a long-beaked bird facing  westward toward the FSM.

The Marshallese are renowned for their peacefulness and friendliness. Their generous smiles brighten this island, whose nickname is simply "Kwaj." The admirable Marshallese culture, which is rooted in family and land, adds a layer of personal appeal to Kjawalein's world-class diving and decades of military history.

The Marshall Islands can be reached on United Airlines, which flies to Kwajalein and on to Majuro three times a week from Guam via Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae. You can also arrive on United's "island hopper" service with three flights per week direct from Honolulu to Majuro. Airlines from Asia and Australia also serve the region.
