괌정부관광청, 의무적 시설격리 및 검진절차 해제 잠정 연기

괌정부관광청은 7월 1일부터 한국, 일본, 대만 관광객의 한에 시행되는 의무적 시설격리 및 검진 절차 해제를 잠정 연기한다고 26일 발표했다.

루 레온 게레로 주지사는 “전 세계적으로 코로나19 확산세가 줄어들지 않고 있다”며, 이에 “괌 관광객들과 지역사회의 안전을 최우선이라고 여겨 관광객의 의무적 격리를 연기하는 것이 최선이라도 판단했다”고 말했다.

칼 구티에레즈 괌정부관광청장은 “우리는 여전히 코로나19의 위협에 살아가고 있지만 뉴 노멀 시대를 맞아 괌 관광업계는 관광객과 지역주민의 안전을 위해 보건 프로토콜을 시행하고 있다”고 말했다. “특히 한국의 코로나19 대응에 감사하다”며, “모든 방문객이 안심하고 괌을 방문할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 전했다.

괌정부관광청 박지훈 부장은 "괌정부관광청은 괌을 찾는 관광객의 안전을 최우선으로 고려하여 방역체계를 구축하고 있다”고 강조하며, “괌 공항을 포함한 모든 장소를 정기적으로 소독하고, 손소독제 및 체온계 등을 비치에 방역에 힘쓰고 있다”고 밝혔다. 이어 “괌을 방문하는 모든 분들이 안심하고 여행할 수 있는 환경을 만들기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 전했다.

GVB Asks South Korea, Japan & Taiwan Tourists to Give Us A Moment

Prioritizing the safety of island residents and travelers, the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) has announced that the reopening of travel on July 1, 2020 into Guam for the countries of Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan has been postponed until further notice.

South Korea extended "the special travel advisory" by one month until July 19, urging citizens to refrain from going abroad as the coronavirus pandemic continues in country and worldwide.

“The decision was made to out of concern for the safety and well-being of both island community and tourists, so we gently ask our tourists to give us a moment” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “Guam has spent the last several weeks developing the necessary health protocols and guidelines for our residents and visitors. Although we must wear our masks and social distance, we can still share the Håfa Adai spirit. We’re all in this together—just six feet apart.”

“It has always been the condition that if things change, we will revisit our reopening date. I want to thank our travel trade and industry partners for giving us a moment to get our house in order so we can all enjoy our beautiful island together at a later time,” said GVB President & CEO and former Governor Carl T.C. Guiterrez. “We appreciate the efforts that South Korea have been doing to contain COVID-19 cases and we will continue to do the same so we can safely welcome all our visitors back with confidence.”

GVB has launched a new online campaign designed to reassure incoming visitors that Guam is a safe and healthy destination. The campaign aims to showcase the extra safety measures that the industry is implementing to keep residents and visitors COVID safe. Guam’s visitor industry partners are implementing proper processes and protocols to make Guam COVID safe.
